UKCRC is putting a major effort into formulating Grand Challenges for the UK research agenda. We have supported a workshop to bring together the research community to discuss these issues. This workshop resulted in a draft report that describes a range of generally accepted long term and large scale challenges for computing research. The work continues and a number of proposals are open for discussion. The Research Councils have welcomed this initiative and some Grand Challenges have already been taken into their programmes.
