Grand Challenges Conference 2004 Grand Challenges for Computing EducationGrand Challenges for Computing Research 29th-31st March 2004
The Grand Challenges in Computing (GCC '04) Conference was held Monday 29th - Wednesday 31st March 2004 at the Marriot Gosforth Park, in Newcastle upon Tyne. GCC '04 was a collection of three conferences. Two were on Grand Challenges in Computing. These were organised into strands focusing on Grand Challenges for Computing Research and Grand Challenges for Computing Education. The third conference was the CPHC annual conference and AGM. There were a number of plenary sessions common to all conferences. These included keynote speakers and panels of interest to all participants. One of the panels was focused on the Grand Challenge of attracting more women into computing. There were joint social events and a conference dinner. The event was sponsored by the British Computer Society (BCS), the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE), and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It was jointly hosted by the School of Computing Science at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and the School of Informatics at Northumbria University. |
